Having been notified last year that she was to be awarded an MBE, Mrs Judith Twigg was presented her award by the Prince of Wales. Mrs Twigg MBE was a Conservative District and County Councillor for many decades in Derbyshire Dales.
Sarah Dines MP commented: “When I heard that Mrs Twigg was awarded her MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours last year, during a very special Platinum Jubilee year, I was delighted. Mrs Twigg MBE has worked tirelessly for the people of Bakewell and the surrounding area for decades. Mrs Twigg, stood for election at a time when it was rare for women to do so and she paved the way for female politicians like myself. I am so pleased that Mrs Twigg MBE has been presented with her award.’’
Mrs Judith Twigg MBE said:
